Meet the Team

We have seen the building of a new fitness team
Did you know? Volleyball was invented in 1895 by William Morgan at his local YMCA!
Team Profiles
Glen Pemble I have been working at the City YMCA, London since July 2008; my previous experience includes: I worked in London during 1999-2000 as a coach for Arsenals football in the community scheme (ran by Arsenal football club) in Barnet's local schools. During 2000-2002 I moved to Bournemouth, taking up the same role with AFC Bournemouth. In 2002-2003 I moved to New Jersey, working for Ashley Soccer Camp (USA) to coach children from 4 to 18 years old. My current experience includes: competing in cycling (track, road and mountain bike), athletics, triathlon and football. I specialise in training for endurance events and resistance training. I enjoy passing on my knowledge to others to help them increase their fitness, achieve their goals, but most importantly of all enjoy doing it. I am always available to assist with your training or to create a new personal exercise plan for you.
Marianne Fretwell I have worked in the Fitness industry for just over 10 years; during this time I have also achieved a BSC in Psychology. Whilst working for City YMCA I have successfully completed my Level 3 Instructor's and GP Referral qualifications, leading me to focus on working with specialised client groups within City YMCA. I have helped to set up the City of London's Young at Heart project; a project funded by the City of London for the 60+ client group living in and around the City. My dedication to the project has contributed in making it the success it is today!
Mark Edgar I practice what I preach, I offer no false hopes or unrealistic promises and I can adapt to any situation giving you 100% commitment every time. I believe I am a fun and varied Fitness Instructor and will look after your best interests and give you a push when you need it most. I have an influential and passionate background as an international Chef spanning over 11 years, which in addition to quailifications and experience in nutritional analysis and weight management you will really be able to grasp your goal from all angles, feeling and seeing your body change.
Sara Zavaleta After I successfully completed my fitness training I went on to progress from aerobic instructor, to personal trainer, then coordinator for the Sanctuary Club Covent Garden and Studio Coordinator for Marriott Hotel Westminster. I am working at City YMCA, London as Fitness Manager. My aim has always been to provide City YMCA with the best possible fitness facilty and service at a price affordable for all. I believe this enables everyone in society to enjoy a healthy Life-Programme by addressing the needs of the working and residential community and offers a perfect antidote to the stresses which characterise twenty first century urban living.
